CONSTABLE HEIDI STEVENSON | 50x70cm | Acrylic on Canvas | Enquire for pricing | Prints available here
This work was made with acrylic on canvas in 2021. The subject does not fill the canvas to get attention like the Trump portrait did. And yet, the eye is drawn to the majesty and charm of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police uniform and the endearing smile of Constable Heidi Stevenson. Internationally, the uniform is interpreted as a costume or simply as a historical symbol but the reality is that as we learn here, the beloved “Mounties” are active protectors of the public n Canada with great honour. Behind the charming Canadian smile is a hero who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect her community and country.

The gunman approached and immediately opened fire. Morrison radio’d his location and for back up. Const. Stevenson approached and collided head on with the gunman. Neither were completely incapacitated by the collision. They engaged and Const. Stevenson lost her life. The gunman was arrested shortly after but later died.
